You don't give yourself a mission, you receive it
The Cotrel Spinal research Foundation was born of a simple observation : my professional life had been punctuated by encounters and opportunities, drawing a winding path along which I had always felt guided and led.
This commitment to serving patients naturally found its continuation in research.
With the support of my entire family, and with the hope of mobilizing, stimulating and pooling knowledge and goodwill, the Foundation launched its first research program with the ambitious challenge of identifying the causes and mechanisms of idiopathic scoliosis.
The worry I read in the eyes of the parents, and the sometimes silent questions of patients themselves, remain unanswered: “Scoliosis? Why? How?”
This mission, whose human nature is inseparable from scientific necessity, has found a reliable haven at the Institut de France, a guarantee of rigor and respect for the values I hold dear.
I would like to thank the patients who taught me, and all those who are now following this path, on which I hope they will continue to advance.
