An initiative of the Cotrel Foundation
Since 2018, the Fondation Cotrel has been actively involved in raising public awareness of early detection of scoliosis by organizing Scolimpiades across the region. These are free screening sessions led by healthcare professionals enabling participants to discover the importance of physical activity in managing this condition.
Early detection can make all the difference in a patient’s care. Indeed, when detection comes too late, it reduces the child’s chances of avoiding surgery.
The ambition of these days goes far beyond simple screening: they aim to alert and advise both children and their parents on the benefits of early screening.
These days are enriched by a variety of sports activities for all, proving that sport and scoliosis are not incompatible. On the contrary, adapted sports activities can help strengthen the back and improve posture, while promoting general well-being.
By bringing families and public health players together around this cause, the Foundation hopes to create an informed and proactive community, ready to take action for the health of its members.
