Tribute

We are saddened to share the news of Professor Jean Dubousset’s passing, on May 4th.

Most people will rightly point to his scientific merits, his qualities as a doctor and surgeon, his great simplicity and availability… We want to say – and his former patients will confirm it – his infinite kindness, his unfailing loyalty, a unique way of respecting each individual equally and his great uprightness.
He will be missed by many.
We will greatly missed.

The Fondation Cotrel will pay him the tribute he deserves, of that you can be assured. But now is the time to mourn, and our most affectionate thoughts are entirely with his family and loved ones.

Presentation

The Cotrel Foundation was created by orthopedic surgeon Dr Yves Cotrel, whose centenary was celebrated in April, in his native Dinan.
This year also marks the Foundation’s 25th anniversary… 25 years of commitment to research in idiopathic scoliosis. Over this period, the Foundation has supported over 85 projects worldwide, covering a variety of disciplines from biomechanics to genetics.

Since 2018, the Foundation has expanded its activities by organizing the “Scolimpiades”, days dedicated to scoliosis screening and sports activities.
In addition, we committed to training school nurses, who are responsible for back examinations for all pupils in France.
