We are a multidisciplinary research team at Sant Joan de Déu SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital, specializing in spine disorders. Our team includes Dr. Vilalta and Dr. Peiró, expert pediatric spine surgeons, along with Rocío García, a specialist in clinical research and optometry. We conduct various studies on scoliosis, with a particular focus on adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS).

One of our main projects, funded by the Yves Cotrel Foundation, is an ongoing case-control study investigating postural, visual, and vestibular abnormalities in AIS patients. By assessing their prevalence and analyzing potential correlations, we seek to provide new insights into the etiology of AIS and its impact on balance, spatial perception, and overall quality of life.
