Pr Zelzer’s lab is studying the involvement of the proprioception system in musculoskeletal development and pathology.
They had previously discovered that the proprioception system controls spinal morphology.
Abnormal activity of this system in mice led to the development of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS).
In order to decipher the molecular mechanisms underlying this pathology, they now study the involvement of different genes and pathways that regulate the proprioception system in the progression of AIS.
